GGBFS can be used as a SCM to replace part of the Portland cement in concrete production, usually ranging from 30 to 70% by mass of the total cementitious materials. GGBFS can reduce the carbon footprint and energy consumption of cement manufacturing, as well as improve the performance and longevity of concrete by lowering the heat of hydration, reducing the risk of cracking, enhancing the resistance to chemical attack and alkali-silica reaction, and increasing the ultimate strength.
