Product Description
Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBFS) is a by-product of the iron and steel industry that can be used as a supplementary cementitious material in concrete. It is produced by rapidly cooling molten blast furnace slag with water, resulting in a glassy, granular product that can be ground into a fine powder.
Product Applications
GBFS can be used as a partial replacement of Portland cement in concrete mixes to improve the performance and durability of concrete. The recommended dosage of GBFS is between 20% and 70% by mass of total cementitious materials. GBFS can also be used in combination with other supplementary cementitious materials, such as fly ash or silica fume, to achieve synergistic effects.
Benefits of using GBFS in concrete
• Improved workability and pumpability of fresh concrete
• Reduced heat of hydration and thermal cracking of hardened concrete
• Increased long-term strength and reduced permeability of hardened concrete
• Enhanced resistance to sulfate attack, chloride ingress, alkali-silica reaction, and corrosion of reinforcement
• Reduced carbon footprint and environmental impact of concrete productio
